Hello Desert Hope family,

First, I want to thank everyone on behalf of the Leadership Council for your thoughts, prayers and relaying your concerns as we try to figure a path thru the current and ever-changing crises happening in our world. We cherish your desire to return to worship and fellowship, as well as concerns about how to protect our at-risk members, staff, and volunteers. For all those reasons and more, we have voted to delay the ‘dipping our toes’ into in-person worship at the Desert Hope facility until Saturday, June 27 for a 5:00 pm service.

At this first service, things will be different from the past. This service will not be televised and may have limited audio-visual capability. These are some of the additional precautions taking place:
On arrival, all persons would undergo a touchless temperature scan, application of hand sanitizer Wearing a mask that covers your nose and mouth throughout the service. Those unable to do this are asked to continue to worship online. Ushers will be available to assist in finding seats with respect to our social distancing measure, two empty seats between family/single groups. We ask that everyone not in your family group, to adhere to a 6-foot social distance and no physical contact. Outside, sanctuary and main bathroom doors will remain open for entry and exit to avoid touching of common doors and handles. We ask that all persons adhere to the handwashing 20 second, hand soap and water method. Parents/guardians please monitor children in those situations. After the Saturday service, the facility will be cleaned by volunteers immediately after conclusion of the service. We ask that those in attendance exit promptly to facilitate and expedite this process for the next morning’s activities. Sunday service will remain ONLINE and Live stream only for the foreseeable future. This would enable safety of staff and allow online communion to continue. Should the Saturday attendance overflow a comfortable capacity, we will revisit our options.

Volunteer positions will be directed by the current ministry leaders and our ever-faithful office staff to fill the designated needs. We ask that all Desert Hope family prayerfully consider your comfort level of both yourself and your loved ones in making the decisions about returning and stepping into your roles to volunteer.

As always, we seek Divine guidance, the recommendations of health officials and prayerfully ask for grace and patience as we continue to evaluate the dynamic conditions during the pandemic.
We encourage you to make decisions that make sense and are comfortable for you and your families. For the time being, I too will be leading and worshiping from home.

In God’s peace and grace,

Kris Hubbard,
Leadership Council President
