Desert Hope Lutheran Church Philosophy of Ministry
Desert Hope Lutheran Church, Lutheran Congregations in Mission for Christ, is a congregation serious about the authenticity and authority of the Bible. We are united by the Word of God. We see worship as the starting point in our relationship with God and fellow believers. We actively encourage our members to grow in their faith through Bible study both individually with our daily Bible reading program and in a variety of structured group study classes.
In every worship service we proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ through the reading of scripture, prayer, music, and Bible-based teaching. In our worship, we strengthen our faith in Jesus through confession, repentance and receiving His forgiveness. We celebrate the real presence of Jesus by receiving Holy Communion in each of our worship services. Our worship services reflect a blending of both traditional hymns in contemporary settings and inspiring Christian praise music. To maximize outreach, our services are live streamed and published on YouTube.
Our extensive volunteer and pastoral care ministries serve our members as well as others primarily throughout our community, with an eye to the needs of world. We are a warm and welcoming congregation that intentionally invites others to participate with us in making a difference for Christ Jesus. This commitment to invite others permeates all aspects of our ministries.
We actively support a powerful city-wide movement, J17 Ministries, which promotes church unity across denominations and racial diversity acknowledging that the Body of Christ has many members with unique qualities and gifts. We encourage our members to identify and utilize their spiritual gifts to serve others and actively demonstrate the impact their faith has on their lives to others. We encourage members to look for and utilize opportunities to share their faith stories.
Our vision is a community where spiritual formation in Christ is central. We seek to be disciples, growing in a life changing relationship with Jesus and not just “believers.” We see this as a key enabler of church growth. Our goal in discipleship is that every member will hear and respond to God’s call to utilize their unique spiritual gifts for His glory.
We strive to internalize God’s word and surrender ourselves to God’s will, culminating in action. We seek a life that is saturated with expectant prayer receiving the guidance and empowerment of the Holy Spirit.
